Supplements and Weight
Loss
Dietary supplements can help the body lose weight
through the carefully and clinically studied ingredients.
There are thousands and thousands of supplements out
there and they can also be very expensive but do they
really work to help the body shed fat?
There are so many wonder herbs out there and new ones
are coming into existence all the time. A lot of dietary
supplements promise to burn fat easily and some of the
actual ingredients are unique and do work on the body but
some can be dangerous and cause side effects.
There are prescription drugs that can be obtained
from your GP which are mostly powerful appetite
suppressants which do work on the body and actually help
to reduce the body from going into starvation mode which
is what most of the supplements would cause
anyway.
Prescription slimming pills actually work with the
body not against it but they are powerful and may cause a
lot of side effects which is why a consultation is
needed.
There are weight loss supplements which promise to
rev the metabolism to burn extra calories even when at
rest and supplements that help to prevent fat from being
absorbed by the body but these too can cause a lot of
side effects and incontinence.
The slimming pills may work in the short term but
they can be expensive, cause side effects which you may
not have been expecting and put you back to square one
with your weight loss goals.
One of the cheapest ways to boost the metabolism is
to increase your levels of iodine in the body. Iodine is
available freely in seaweed or available to buy as kelp
tablets which are foul smelling and tasting but they help
the thyroid gland to work more
efficiently.
The thyroid gland is extremely important because the
two hormones that are secreted tri-iodothyroxine and
thyroxin help to control the metabolic rate. A side
effect of using kelp in the diet is that too much iodine
can cause skin problems.
Iodine is natural and cheaper than most supplements
plus it works with the body and helps the thyroid gland
to perform efficiently.
Yes slimming supplements can help with weight loss
but it is beneficial to do your homework before
purchasing them and know that they may cause possible
nasty side effects, not all of them but some of them
may.
Bear in mind that a lot of the supplements actually
suppress the appetite and you know what happens to the
body when it is starved of food, it goes into starvation
mode, slows down the metabolism and actually holds onto
as much fat as it can.
Starving the body in this way may cause the body to
shed an amount of weight in the short term but long term
they may not be healthy for the overall metabolism of the
body which should be kept high to ensure maximum weight
loss.
