Regular Meals and Weight
Loss
Another great way to keep the weight off long term is
to eat smaller meals through the day. Eating smaller
meals during the day actually tricks the mind into
keeping the metabolism high.
When a person is hungry they will automatically know
it and the brain releases a hormone called grelin which
tells you that you're hungry and if a person is extremely
hungry they may eat more calories than they really
need?
I know I have in the past! But if you follow the
rules of eating small meals and often the grelin hormone
is not secreted and the body stays at a high level of fat
burning all day long.
The body wants to feel satisfied. It hates being
starved. Eating little and often is a great way to keep
the body at an optimum fat burning level. Eating every
2-3 hours a meal of around 300 calories is sufficient to
keep the metabolism high all day long.
Eating your meals every day in this way may even help
you lose weight as long as you keep the portion sizes
pretty low and remember to eat every 2-3 hours. The most
important thing about weight loss and how fast a person
loses weight is through the important metabolism in the
body.
Around 10% of the daily calories are burnt through
something called dietary thermogenesis which basically
means that whenever food is taken into the body the body
automatically heats up and the metabolism is raised
because the body is in the beginning process of
digesting, absorbing and using the the nutrients of the
food.
It is a wonderful process that takes place in the
body every time food is eaten. So therefore keeping the
metabolism high by eating little and often weirdly tricks
the mind into dietary thermogenesis so the metabolism is
raised all day. Even though it's not a high percentage
per day everything counts in terms of long term weight
loss.
The resting metabolism or the BMR - Basal Metabolic
Rate is the amount of calories needed by the body to stay
alive. This accounts for around 60% of the average
calories burned per person.
Then there are the calories burned from activities
such as brushing your teeth or washing up. Every activity
burns calories even though they may be a small amount and
it counts for around 30% of the daily calories taken
in.
Food is important and if it is eaten little and often
there are ways of boosting the metabolism that doesn't
involve exercise. How good is that? Just think about it
when you can tell your friends that the key to your long
term weight loss is through eating all day. Even show
them wherever you are.
Even a snack of a banana as long as food is eaten 5-6
times per day, around every 2-3 hours eventually your
friends may start to realise that starving the body is
NOT the way to long term weight
loss.
