One of an easier ways to lose weight is to replace two of your meals with a meal replacement shake which contain a good amount of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates and protein so that the body is not starved of its nutrients. Most of these meal replacements can be expensive, high in calories and leave you craving foods soon after.

 

There are thousands of formulas to choose from and they can be purchased widely in supermarkets, on the internet and in sports shops that sell whey protein and other sports supplements.

 

Although the meal replacements have a good amount of nutrients that the body needs it does not beat a proper meal full of natural vitamins, minerals and fibre which help to fill the body up.

 

They can be helpful with a weight loss programme especially when someone is following a calorie controlled diet and they want to be strict with their calorie intake.

 

When making meals at home from scratch the actual calories can not be calculated so using a meal replacement can be a quick and efficient way to give the body some quality calories and also help with your weight loss goals because you know exactly how many calories have been consumed. 

 

Half of the meal replacement formulas contain good amounts of protein but lets consider what foods are an actual good source of protein similar to the ingredients in a meal replacement sachet. Sometimes meal replacements are made up with water, sometimes with milk.

 

Milk is a natural source of protein and adding maybe a banana and a spoonful of peanut butter to the shake adds a lot of protein, vitamins and minerals and it is cheap to make. Save your money and make a nutritious shake that is high in protein and contains good amounts of fats essential to the body. 

 

Meal supplements do help with weight loss but they should not be relied upon as an everyday option once you have reached your weight loss goal.

 

Use them when you are reducing your daily calorie count but also remember maybe to try and make your own shake which may contain a lot less calories than the meal replacement shakes. There are so many varieties of meal replacements to choose from so it's best to do a little research before purchasing.

 

They can be expensive form of weight loss but overall they will work for the average person who is looking for an easy way to lose weight through meal replacement.

 

Making your own shakes gives the body exactly what it needs, a great meal but in the form of a shake with excellent amounts of protein from the milk, good fats from the peanut butter and carbohydrate in the banana.

 

How do you really know how long a meal replacement will last until one has actually tried it.
